Earthwork Cross Sections

Compute earthwork volume from cross-section areas using both Average End Area and Prismoidal methods, with the prismoidal correction.

Inputs

Add cross-section areas at consecutive stations. Tool computes volume by Average End Area and Prismoidal (with mid-section).

Method
  • Average End Area: V = L·(A₁ + A₂)/2.
  • Prismoidal: V = L·(A₁ + 4·Am + A₂)/6 (Am estimated from average of adjacent A's).
  • Difference is the prismoidal correction; useful for tapered earthworks.
