About this calculator

This tool builds a quick Bill of Quantities (BOQ): add line items with a unit of measure, quantity and unit rate, and it extends, totals, and applies overhead & profit (OH&P) and VAT markups to produce a grand total, with CSV export. It's meant for quantity surveyors, estimators, contractors and project managers who need a fast preliminary cost estimate — not a substitute for a fully measured, code-compliant BOQ.

Method & Formulas

This mirrors the conventional cost-estimate build-up used in a construction Program of Work / bid summary: direct costs first, then the contractor's markup, then tax, applied in that order.

Worked Example

Two line items, 15% OH&P and 12% VAT:

  1. Item 1 — Concrete (3000 psi), 10 m³ @ ₱6,500/m³ → Amount = 10 × 6,500 = ₱65,000.
  2. Item 2 — Reinforcing steel, 800 kg @ ₱65/kg → Amount = 800 × 65 = ₱52,000.
  3. Subtotal = 65,000 + 52,000 = ₱117,000.
  4. OH&P at 15%: 117,000 × 0.15 = ₱17,550.
  5. VAT at 12% on (Subtotal + OH&P): (117,000 + 17,550) × 0.12 = 134,550 × 0.12 = ₱16,146.
  6. Grand Total = 117,000 + 17,550 + 16,146 = ₱150,696.

Assumptions & Limitations

FAQ

In what order are OH&P and VAT applied?
OH&P is calculated on the direct-cost subtotal first, then VAT is calculated on the subtotal plus OH&P — matching common cost-estimate summary practice. If your project's tax rule differs, adjust the percentages you enter, or apply tax outside the tool.
Can I export the BOQ to a spreadsheet?
Yes — the Export CSV button downloads a CSV file (Item, Unit, Qty, Rate, Amount) that opens directly in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet application.
Does this replace a proper measured BOQ?
No — treat it as a fast, itemized preliminary estimate. A bid- or contract-ready BOQ requires formal quantity take-off per the governing method of measurement and a detailed unit-rate build-up analysis.
