Check beam openings in seconds.

ACI Beam Horizontal Opening Checker screens pipe and conduit openings in a reinforced-concrete beam against ACI 314R-11 §6.8.2.2 (conduits passing through) and §6.8.2.3 (conduits embedded longitudinally) — with a live elevation + cross-section sketch that redraws on every keystroke.

Two clauses, checked thoroughly

Every check the guide requires — plus the pair and zone checks it's easy to miss by hand.

§
§6.8.2.2 — Through beams & joists
Transverse conduits passing through girders, beams, and joists — size limit, middle-third band, and prohibited-zone location checks.
§6.8.2.3 — Longitudinal conduits
Conduits embedded along the beam's length — its own size and band rules, with an explicit "not applicable" row for span location.
Middle-third band, both axes
Depth and width bands checked edge-to-edge, matching how Fig. 6.8.2.2 draws the pipes wholly inside the band.
Five-zone span partition
Prohibited/permitted zones mirrored at both ends of the span — all five zones drawn on the elevation, not just the two the guide names.
All-pairs spacing checks
Every pair checked, not just adjacent ones — required in the 2D section, where two non-adjacent pipes can still nearly touch.
Two interpretation switches
The clause text is ambiguous on location basis and spacing basis for unequal pipes. Both are exposed in the UI, defaulting to the conservative reading.

Never oversells a result

The banner never reads a bare PASS — the best attainable verdict is PASS WITH REVIEW ITEMS, by design.

Always PASS WITH REVIEW
All three advisory items are permanently flagged Review by design — never auto-passed. The acknowledgement checkbox gates export; it never upgrades the verdict.
Nothing silently skipped
A longitudinal conduit still gets an explicit "span location — not applicable" row, so an inapplicable check is never mistaken for an oversight.
0
No NaN ever reaches a row
Degenerate geometry yields a 999.0 sentinel and a Fail; non-numeric rows carry an explicit flag and print an em dash instead.
Live redraw, every keystroke
The elevation and cross-section sketch redraw on every keystroke, cell edit, add, delete, and unit switch — nothing needs a recalculate button.
PNG export, both sketches
Export the elevation and cross-section sketches to PNG for your calculation package, alongside the full pass/fail report.
26 / 26 tests, zero warnings
Release build treats every warning as an error. The full acceptance suite — 26 tests covering every clause and edge case — passes before each release.

This tool performs geometric screening only against ACI 314R-11, a guide document — ACI 318 governs. A PASS result does not certify structural adequacy and does not relieve the engineer of record of responsibility for the design.

A FAIL result means the simplified provisions no longer apply and the opening needs explicit design (chord and diagonal reinforcement, Vierendeel action) — out of scope here. Reinforcing bars must not be cut or damaged at any location without the licensed design professional's approval.
